the goal of fault management is recognize, isolate, correct and lof faults that occur in the network.

fault management is concerned with detecting network faults, logging this information, and contacting approprizte person, and ultimately fixing a problem. A common fault management technique is to implement an SNMP-based network management system.

the goal of configuration management are gather/set/track configuration of devices.
configuration management is concerned with minitoring system configuration information, and any changes that take place.
