Believe me, basketball is a game of strength. You need to be able to overpower your opponent on defense, for rebounds, going to the hoop and even fighting for loose balls. Although I work on building certain muscles through weightlifting, I also work on strengthening my whole body through these exercises. And I’m a better athlete because of it.

  On the basketball court, you have to be ready for anything. Your coach might ask you to play a different position. It’s not just a matter of following through those motions. You have to know the footwork and the adjustments. And you need to sharpen your body to be able to adapt to whatever the game throws at you. That’s what an athlete does. That’s what an athlete is.

“Injury prevention is better than injury healing.”

  There are some injuries you can’t do anything about. Bones do break. Ligaments do snap. But beyond that, you can work on keeping yourself healthy. That’s why I strongly believe that stretching is extremely important. If you’re hurt, you can’t play. And that’s the worst feeling in the world. If you prevent those injuries you have control over, then you can control the game. It’s that simple.
  有些伤让你无可奈何。如骨头断裂,韧带拉断。但是你可以尽力让自己保持身体健康。因此我一直坚信拉伸是极其重要的练习。如果你受了伤,就无法参加比赛。这是世界上最糟糕的事情。如果你能避免受到类似的伤害,那么你就能控制比赛。就是这么简单。

  There’s no point in going all out for ten minutes when you have forty eight to play. But success in sports requires that you go all out whenever your number is called. So you need to build your body to go at top speed for a long time. Because if you’re not at the top of your game, you won’t be in the game.
  当你需要进行48分钟的比赛时,只能坚持10分钟就没有任何意义。想要获得体育比赛的成功,无论何时叫到你的号码,你都要能够坚持下去。因此,你需要磨练自己的身体,维持长时间的快速移动。因为如果你不是最棒的,你就无法赢得比赛。
